Summary

The Proposal Manager shall be capable of leading and executing a marketing proposal process. The individual must demonstrate a complete understanding of the Request for Proposal (RFP) and/or Request for Qualification (RFQ) process for a variety of commercial construction projects to support Layton's strategic business units.

The Proposal Manager shall be extremely proficient and accurate in producing comprehensive deliverables including the planning, layout, drafting, editing and production of proposals. The individual will lead the proposal efforts for multiple, simultaneous responses and take the lead in creating proposal schedules/assignments as well as compliance/responsibility matrices. The individual will interact with senior leadership and preconstruction departments (business development, estimating, building information modeling, scheduling) as well as various management/operational teams (construction managers, projects managers and superintendents) to develop proposal strategy and gather responses to proposal requirements.

This position is located in our corporate headquarters in Sandy, UT. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Occasionally, may require overtime for completion of presentations and proposals.  Occasionally, will attend proposal/presentation planning meetings at times and locations other than normal working hours.

DUTIES:

  • Highly organized and can prioritize multiple, simultaneous projects in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Develop relationships with the proposal team and other departments to meet dynamic project demands
  • Manage proposal development and production from RFP receipt to contract award
  • Help develop a win-strategy for each pursuit
  • Ability to research and interview technical staff to create original compelling marketing content (project descriptions, project approach or processes)
  • Lead and/or participate proposal teams to an efficient, effective product through application of best practice milestones for RFP analysis, kickoff, development, reviews, publications and production
  • Fully develops proposal layouts with incorporation and adherence of style guides and branding
  • Fully develops graphics to support the written material
  • Proofreading, editing and standardizing of proposal content
  • Provide overall quality assurance of proposal response/process; ensure Layton's branding, style guides and best practices are adhered to
  • Lead/assist with interview/presentation preparation and create supporting documents (presentations, boards, hand-outs, etc.)
  • Creates and updates marketing materials such as: process sheets, project lists, construction job reference information, resumes, industry and/or market segment information, and various other marketing documents for use in RFPs and RFQs, etc. including the use of a marketing database
  • Regularly reviews all standard marketing materials to update and maintain the most current and accurate information
  • Assist and mentor other marketing coordinators
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support Layton's Marketing Department

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 5 to 8 years minimum experience in proposal and presentation planning, layout, drafting proposal content, graphics and editing
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High degree of proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud/Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
  • High degree of proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Highly organized; establish priorities and a course of action for handling multiple tasks
  • Strong written and oral communications skills; communicates clearing in writing and uses correct spelling and grammar
  • Work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines and demands
