Summary

The ESH Coordinator is responsible for field implementation of the safety health and environmental policies and procedures on all assigned projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Enforces safety regulations and policies on assigned projects. Monitors safety conditions and follows through on Layton safety issues to achieve an injury free environment.
  2. Investigates accidents, gathers facts and writes the first report of injury. Interfaces with workers compensation representatives to supply them with required accident information.
  3. Also may conduct incident review meetings with policy managers, superintendents, and  foremen, and involved employees to debrief and to train on future accident avoidance.
  4. Monitors workers compensation issues on Layton projects and works closely with the ESH Manager on these issues.
  5. Conducts site-specific safety orientation issues.
  6. Implements monthly audit program to document compliance with standards and safety program effectiveness.
  7. Participates in pre-construction meetings for Layton projects, highlighting project safety needs and issues.
  8. Ensures accident reporting is accurate and prompt and implements prevention measures.
  9. Assists with injury management to ensure cost effective industrial medical care is
  10. Assists project supervision with safety disciplinary measures and enforcement when
  11. Implements company safety incentive program and provides input to enhance the
  12. Conducts industrial hygiene surveys as necessary to detect gases and noise; conduct respiration fit tests.
  13. Certifies project employees on equipment as needed.
  14. May conduct new hire safety orientations to ensure all employees understand the Company's safety emphasis and methods for performing work safely.
  15. Performs appropriate emergency medical services according to level of certification and/or training; accompanies injured employees to the doctor as needed.
  16. May suggest improvements to the Director of Safety on the Company's safety incentive
  17. May interact with VP-Field Operations and Human Resources personnel to ensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, and Worker's Compensation law.
  18. May train employees on assigned projects on injury free concepts and OSHA/MSHA compliance to achieve an injury free workplace.
  19. May participate in monthly corporate Safety Committee meetings.
  20. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications    

  1. Has high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Has at least 1 year commercial or industrial construction field experience. Is in the process of mastering the professional body of knowledge required by the Environmental      Safety and Health credential.
  3. Demonstrates good interpersonal relations: Maintains effective relationships with others. Uses tact.  Is sensitive to feelings and needs of others. Shows ability to solve human         
  4. Has good verbal communication skills: Expresses self clearly and effectively when talking with individuals and groups. Demonstrates poise and mastery of language in expressing self.
  5. Has good written communication skills: Expresses ideas clearly in writing. Uses proper organization and grammar.
  6. Uses equipment, such as telephone, copier, fax, gas detector, light meter, and noise
  7. Demonstrates integrity; maintains a high stands of ethics, conduct, and organizational policies in job-related activities.
  8. Performs essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately, and safety with or without reasonable accommodation and with out posing threat of harm to self or others.
  9. Understands and conveys English commands, questions, and instructions on an eight- grade level regarding safety issues.
  10. Pursuing ASP or CSP accreditation preferred
  11. In addition to fluent English, basic Spanish language skills preferred
